Hello!

Whether your goal is to better understand yourself, make changes to live a happier, healthier life, or gain a sense of direction as to what is keeping you from achieving your goals, I am here to help.

Life can be complicated and challenging, a little help can make a big difference. My mission is to offer quality, evidence-based services tailored to meet your needs in an environment of compassion, integrity, and acceptance.

Finding the right fit is important. The only way to know if I am the right fit for you is for us to meet. I am a psychologist, not in sales. If I am not the right fit, there is no pressure to commit.

Why work with Dr. Schloesser?

Experience

Experience is not just about time. While I have 20 years of experience in the field of psychology, my work in a range of settings has created a wealth of experience. I have had the opportunity to work in inpatient settings, schools, outpatient settings, prisons and jails, as well as private practice.

Additionally, I have supervised pre-doctoral interns, post-doctoral clinicians, and regularly consult with peers.

Training

At James Madison University, I completed a baccalaureate degree with a major in Psychology and minor in Biology. I continued my education by earning a Master’s degree in Psychology from American University followed by a doctoral degree from the American School of Professional Psychology in Washington, DC, an APA-accredited program.

As the final step in my doctoral program, I completed an APA-accredited internship at a state psychiatric hospital in NJ. I am licensed to practice psychology in the state of New Jersey and approved to practice in PSYPACT states.

Quality

I strive to provide high-quality services rooted in contemporary science. I believe that training is ongoing and important to offer my patients the most up-to-date services and assessment measures. I regularly participate in continuing education programs and provide trainings to others.

Flexibility

I have training in several theoretical orientations. I am able to integrate theories and utilize techniques from several theories, including CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), and psychodynamic theories, allowing me to tailor my approach to each patient’s unique preferences and needs.

Empathy

Change is difficult. I create an environment of support and acceptance, but I will also challenge you to grow.

Privacy

In order for psychotherapy to be effective, patients need to be open and honest. When you reach out to my office, I will be the one returning your call and answering your questions.

Virtual appointments and the patient portal are hosted on HIPAA-compliant programs, protecting your personal health information.
